Fireworks!!!

Photobucket

Last night we went to the fireworks at Fruitport Old Fashioned Days. It was a lot of fun. before we watched the fireworks Kaden and his father danced at the band that was playing. I missed it as i was saving our place. We all sat on a nice comfy comfortor (an old one) and watched as the 35 minute firework show awwwed us.

We were spoiled because we got to sit with our neighbors (Brian and Traci) and their family (Brians sister is married to a Jurkas) so we had some lovely conversations.

My husband and Kaden pretended that they told the fireworks when to explode. It was really cute.

Today is Memorial Day and as some of you know; my husband is running for Fruitport Township Trustee. Although he has to protect the heights today so he is unable to walk in the parade and sponser himself and throw his name out there.

But, all isn't lost. The family and I (minus Dan) will walk in the parade and throw out candy for our neighbor (Brian and Traci) who is running for Fruitport Township Supervisor. So. If anyone reading this is a Fruitport voter; go out and vote for Dan and Brian in the primary. If your not, just send some good wishes.

Happy Memorial Day! and thanks to all those soldiers who crossed the line for us!

Special Memorial Day wish to my father who survived the Korean War and loves to tell us all wonderful stories about it...I love you Daddy!

Memorial Day

Photobucket
here it is...another memorial day. I am trying to put a picture in, but it is not letting me add a picture for some reason. anyway, the kids were in the old fashioned day kids parade today where they decorated their bikes. Whitney and her friend decorated her bike and they won first prize for their age group. Photobucket
They were so sweet as they could pick a new bike for a boy or girl; and they picked a new bike for Kaden to have. it was the most selfless acts of kindness i have seen from my daughter. I wish i could put a picture in and show you how they looked. But, i guess we will all have to wait until the fruitport news paper comes out and they will have their picture in there. So. congrats to the kids for winning and for good judgment calls.

Thanks to everyone!

First of all, i would like to say thanks to everyone who has called, emailed, myspaced, etc. to let me know they are thinking about my dad. It has really meant a lot to me. I apologize to the people i had to work with last sunday as i was pretty crabby, and cried with the wrong word said to me.
My dad is now home. They were unable to do the cat scan because now his kidney function is crappy. they are going to wait two weeks, told him to flush his system with 10-12 glasses of water a day (not so good with a man who already has an enlarged prostate) and they will see him back next week friday.
Dad has the best spirit of anyone. He still is mad at me for cancelling our vegas vacation, but understand when i tell him to hush it!!! He walked to the end of the driveway today but had to sit down before returning back up. He also attempted to walk to the post office, but had to quite 1/2 way. He is a strong person and has the best attitude of anyone. thanks again. i will update asap.

Please pray for my dad!

This is my mom and dad; Jim and Louise. They are the world to me. They are the best parents anyone could ever ask for. They are always here when you need them and they never complain about anything. They come to almost every event and activity that the kids have and are always happy.
Today, my father went to have a stress test at Gerber Hospital. My father coded during the test and it took them quite a while to revive him. He now is on his way to Spectrum Heart Center where he is going to undergo a heart cath. I know that he will do just fine; he has lived through the Korean War and was a POW for a while. He is in better health than me and he is 80 yrs old. He climbs a tree faster than a cat when it is time to go bow hunting. I couldn't ask for better parents than what i have right now. Please pray for my father 1. to not be so stubborn and let people take care of him; and 2. that he pulls through this without complications. Thank you.

Chicago!!!

Well, this is my girl Whitney. Two days ago on May 7th, we went to Chicago with her fifth grade class at school (Shettler Elementary). We had so much fun. We woke up at 5:30 am and we were at the school loading the buses at 6:45am. Then, our first stop was the Museum of Science and Industry. That was pretty cool. Our favorite there was the huge dollhouse that was different themes of fairytales. Whit and I really enjoyed that. It was very interesting for Whit as I explained the babies on the wall from fertilization to birth. It was actually really neat to see the babies.

We next went to Shedds Aquarium. That was pretty cool. We watched an interesting dolphin show on how they train the dolphins. Then, we watched whales, penguins, lots of different fish and most of all...the gift shop.

What was really neat was the fact that the whole group had on these yellow shirts that told where we were from and that we were all a group..we thought we were pretty awesome; until we saw more groups just like us...it was funny because all the kids were like "they stole our idea".

After the aquarium we went to the middle of the city and went on the Wendella boat cruise. That was the best part of the day. We went straight down the river, had a tour guide and learned a lot of interesting things. We saw the new trump tower where we can purchase a condo for a mere 9.5 million dollars (i put a deposit down), and we also saw the place where Abraham Lincoln was sworn in as the mayor of Chicago and eventually the President of the United States. It was really interesting and the kids had a great time.

To end the day, we went and had some down to earth yummy Chicago style pizza at Connies. The kids were all freaking out about how thick the crust was but once they bit into it, they loved it. All in all, it was a great day. I am so glad that i was able to experience this with my daughter. We will both remember it forever. I love you Whitney and thank you for letting me go with you..love mom.

My how they grow!!!

Well, for those of you who know and have seen her...the one in the middle is mine. This was just last weekend 5/3/08. my baby went to the prom. (that is her date to the right of her in the picture). These are two of her best friends; April (on the left) and Vanessa (on the right). Of course, she came to visit me in the er while i was working all dressed up and yes, i did shed some tears. (hormonal this time of month) anyway, i can't believe how beautiful she has grown up to be.

I do remember her just a few years ago when she was younger and her comments were so wonderful and refreshing. Mom i love you so much; mom, will i ever be as beautiful as you, mom, can we spend more time together?, mom, lets go have a girls day and just be together.....now to the present...mom, why can't i get another pair of shoes, why can't i have the car, why can't i stay out all night, why do i have a curfew, my friends don't, why cant i......oh and once in awhile she throws an i love you mom in there which is refreshing to me because she is the most wonderful kid in the world.

She does like to go all supermodel sometimes. She for the most part is a very strong individual who once in a while breaks down and gets through it. she is active in most anything there is to do. She is a wonderful basketball star and was moved to varsity this past season as a sophomore and started the second game. She was in the newspaper quite often and yes,,, i have all of those clippings. She played volleyball and currently is in soccer, and played indoor soccer this past winter. She is pretty much good at everything she does. She gets really good grades and is wanting to go to the navy and then on to law school. I think she has a great head on her shoulders and i absolutely love her to death. I don't know what i did to deserve such a fine young lady.

A little goofy and a lot of love is how i describe her. Our favorite thing to do together is watch our two favorite shows...Desperate Housewives and The Hills. She is a very good daughter and besides being a slob she is almost perfect (a little biased though). But seriously, I have gotten very lucky with all my kids. Brittany is the most wonderful daughter and is a very intelligent, level headed young lady. The one thing i love about her is that we can tell each other everything and her and i are extremely close. We can sit on the couch and cuddle like best friends. There isn't a day that goes by that we don't tell each other we love each other and we always end every phone conversation with "I love you".

This is her very best friend in the whole world...Krista. She is like another daughter to me. She has been on all our family vacations with us and she truly is faithful and loving to Brittany. No one could ever as for a better friend. Love you too Krista!!!!

So, there you have it. The bragging begins...and i still have three more kids!!!!!

Theres a thought!!

well, to start out, i have absolutely no idea what i am doing, i would like to thank my "pushy" blogger friends Lesley and Trisha who are always telling me "you out to blog, it is fun" or "shes a blogger, you know, the cool people do it". so, I received an email from Lesley and began...so, here i am. any pointers from you "COOL" long time bloggers? throw them at me.
I guess the title i picked is just something that will strike a laugh out of everyone who knows and (somewhat) loves me. My friends (especially Shelly Kirksey) always say i grab thoughts out of the air and say them before i think about them. well, its true...i mean if you could only realize the (not thinking) that goes on inside my little brain it would be hilarious!!!! So heres a thought! I love my friends and I love my family and to me, there isn't anything else that matters in the world..
Ok. so, i guess i better finish by saying....if you could only be in my house right now. I have to listen to my husband who is in the bathroom singing in the shower..."i love my wife, she is the best, she makes me hot water and calls it coffee..." the rest is for your imagination, but i'm cracking up!!!!
